Last week, an extraordinary meeting of the AEDBF was held in Rome gathering together under the presidency of Pierre Minor, members of the board, of the scientific committee and representatives of several national AEDBF around the following question: « Which AEDBF for the next decade? »

Six working groups tackled the core challenges facing our association: organisation, international development, membership renewal, bylaws, communication, and how we could work better together. The discussions were frank, rich, and action-oriented. The results will shape the Association's roadmap for the years ahead.

Our sessions took place at the headquarters of UNIDROIT, which that very week celebrated its centenary (1926 – 2026). A fitting backdrop for a conversation about the future of banking and financial law in Europe. We are most grateful to its Secretary General, Ignacio Tirado, for his hospitality and his warm welcoming words.

Participants also had the privilege of visiting the Italian Constitutional Court (Palazzo della Consulta) and the Palazzo del Quirinale, the seat of the Italian Presidency of the Republic. Moments that reminded us of the weight and history of the institutions that shape the legal frameworks we work with every day.

Our scientific seminar chaired by Roberto Ferretti on the future of the single market for financial services featured outstanding contributions from Carmine Di Noia (OECD) and Fabrizio Pagani (Vitale e Associati), whose insights set the tone for our working sessions. Bertrand Bréhier coordinated the debate which followed the presentations.

A heartfelt thank you to those who made this meeting possible in Rome: Roberto Ferretti and the AEDBF - Italia, Antonella Sciarrone Alibrandi, Michela Porro and Filippos Siozos. Their dedication to organising this event, down to every detail, was outstanding.

More to come as we move from conversation to action.
