The European payments landscape is undergoing profound change. With PSD3 / PSR, FIDA and the digital euro package, the European Union is reshaping the legal architecture of payments. The new payments package is expected to be published at the beginning of 2027.
Against this background, AEDBF Europe and AEDBF Belgium will organise their 2026 International Conference in Brussels, bringing together academics, regulators, practitioners and industry representatives to discuss the future of European payments.
The Conference
The Conference will focus on four key themes:
• PSD3 / PSR and the transformation of the regulatory framework
• Fraud prevention, user protection and PSP liability
• Digital euro, stablecoins and monetary sovereignty
• European strategic autonomy and the role of banks, Big Tech and new entrants
The Conference Programme will be communicated shortly.
Call for Papers
Young scholars and professionals, including PhD students, researchers, post docs and research fellows, are invited to submit contributions on the Conference themes.
Two papers will be selected: one on PSP liability for fraud, with a focus on national case law, and one on the regulatory aspects of the payments package more generally.
Selected authors will present their research in Brussels and publish their papers in the Conference proceedings.
